Are you suffering from back pain?
Whether it’s due to a pulled muscle or tendon, sciatica, arthritis, osteoporosis, disc issues or something else, the Mercy Health Spine Center may be able to help.
Our ministry has designed our spine center locations to provide seamless patient care with a navigator taking the lead on arranging appropriate care for patients. Once the navigator receives a referral from an emergency room or primary care physician, they call the patient to schedule an appointment with the most appropriate spine center provider for the patient’s condition.
“The navigator calls the patient and works with them to understand the nature of their injury,” Jamie Schwartz, rehabilitation program manager, shares. “They get the patient in to see a specialist the same day or the next depending on what works best with the patient’s schedule.”
For our care team, speed is a priority.
“The key to relieving pain is early diagnosis and treatment,” Megan Stanfield, PA-C, (pictured above, right), says. “Formulating a quick diagnosis and treatment plan results in effective pain relief, improved function and assists in the goal of avoiding chronic recurrent pain conditions.”
Jamie adds, “the evidence suggests that if a person receives physical therapy within the first eight weeks of the onset of symptoms, the likelihood of them having a great outcome is significantly increased and they will spend overall less on medications, imaging and surgery.”
Our spine center care offers a variety of treatment options using a multidisciplinary approach.
This includes:
- Physical therapists, physicians and advanced practitioners working together to ensure continuity of care in a team setting.
- Advanced diagnostic testing including onsite X-rays and electromyography with oders for MRIs, CTs as needed.
- Nonsurgical treatment options for spine issues.
- Interventional procedures including injections to decrease pain and improve function.
- Physical therapy – evidence-based guideline adherent treatments that are capped at the fifth visit if they have not improved at least 50 percent from the onset of therapy.
- Minimally invasive spine and complex surgical intervention.
One patient shares, “my experience at the Mercy Health Spine Center was very pleasant and helpful in getting my back issues to feel better. I am so grateful that Megan Stanfield, PA-C recommended a doctor for steroid shots. I feel that I have improved, and I can sit and stand without so much pain.”
And in the situations where a patient requires further care, our spine center team can refer them to an appropriate specialist or service within our ministry’s network. The patient’s medical records, including details on the care they’ve received to date, are sent to our new providers which makes referrals seamless.
We have five spine center locations throughout the Cincinnati area: Anderson, Blue Ash, Mason, West and West Chester. Learn more about the spine care services we offer and learn more about these locations or call 513-721-111 to schedule an appointment.
