For retired physician Jack Lomano (pictured above), medicine is something that has been a part of his life for many years.
Because of his background, Dr. Lomano knew something wasn’t right one day when he was experiencing chest pain. He headed to Mercy Health – Lorain Hospital and was admitted on July 9. After receiving care from our team members, Dr. Lomano was overwhelmed with the exceptional care he experienced and wrote a letter to thank his health care providers.

To whom it may concern:
I am a retired physician who obtained his medical degree at Ohio State, finished a four-year OB-GYN residency, including a one-year rotation with Dr. Zollenger at OSU. I practiced in Columbus, Ohio for 31 years before moving to Fort Myers, Fla. While I’m currently retired, I maintain an active medical license.
I was admitted to Lorain Hospital with chest pain and diagnosed as occlusion of coronary arteries. I want to compliment your entire staff for such outstanding care! This was at every level, from ER to discharge, including nursing, dietary, chaplain, transportation, catheter lab and more.

With my history in the medical field, I’ve have had multiple opportunities to observe hospital care from many systems. Lorain Hospital is truly unique with the outstanding care extended to me. Dr. Manuel Cortes deserves special recognition in this evaluation. I would describe him as young, talented, knowledgeable and uniquely skilled in complex medical care. Dr. Cortes is a great addition to your health system.
