Nurse Robin Recognized for Her Love and Kindness

In the early morning hours one day in November 2021, Cat Gilfillen’s 102-year-old father, Bob Gilfillen, fell and used his medical alert pendant to call for EMS. While the EMS crew didn’t find any injuries, they felt that Bob seemed disoriented. Out of cautiousness, they transported him in the ambulance to the emergency department at Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital.

Since Bob only had on the clothes he arrived in, he became quite cold as he waited to be admitted. Once his caregiver arrived, she went to find a nurse to get him more blankets.

“The caregiver talked with nurse Robin, who saw the situation and immediately got my dad more blankets,” Cat shares. “Robin even washed his face and hands while talking to him with warmth and comfort.”

Cat adds that while these actions from Robin (pictured above) may not have been a cutting-edge or high-tech medical procedure, they were still crucial to her father’s well-being as he was being evaluated.

“We are grateful for her actions, and the kindness that helped comfort a World War II veteran during a difficult time,” Cat says. “He’s much better now and joins our whole family in thanking nurse Robin for her love and kindness.

We are so grateful for Robin and all our other nurses who are commitment to our mission of extending the compassionate ministry of Jesus. At Mercy Health, nurses mean the world!
