Our ministry is a proud sponsor of the High School Sports Awards – Cincinnati. We are also honored to be the athletic training provider of Williamsburg High School located in the greater Cincinnati area.
Recently, we had a chance to catch up with Williamsburg alum Madi Ogden who was selected as Cincinnati’s 2021 Female Athlete of the Year about winning this prestigious honor. Madi was involved in three sports at Williamsburg High School: basketball, volleyball and softball.
It was at the young age of six when Madi first discovered her love for sports. She loved the competitiveness that came along with it.
“My parents were huge into sports and all of my siblings were involved in sports too,” Madi shares. In fact, Madi’s “PaPaw” was an owner of a softball park and was a long-time high school basketball coach.
When Madi was selected as the Female Athlete of the Year for Cincinnati, she was excited but also surprised.
“Most people know me as a softball player, so to be noticed for all the sports I had worked so hard on was a great feeling,” she says.
Madi’s father pushes her the most to succeed and always encourages her to work hard. He was both her personal catcher as well as her assistant coach in high school softball. Madi not only played sports at her high school but was also on a travel softball team.
“I’m the type of leader who shows by example,” Madi says. “I wasn’t necessarily the person who would call people out. A lot of people looked up to me because of my hard work ethic.”
The atmosphere of basketball was Madi’s favorite, but her heart always brought her back to softball. Madi is now headed to Morehead State University in Morehead, KY this fall to play softball.
“I am so thankful that my community was always very supportive of me, as well as each of my teammates on the teams I was a part of,” she says.
